Introduction
Hi class! Have you ever wondered what your body is composed of? It's CELLS.
Cells are the smallest and most basic unit of life.

Now the next question is, how do orgranisms create millions of cells that make up its body??!
Task
The answer is the cell cylce! The first thing you need to know is what the cell cycle is. Throughout a cell's life, it grows, copies its DNA, and splits into two daughter cells.

So my challenge for you today is to explore each phase of the cell cycle and its importance in the cell's life!
Process
OK! So first we need to look at what phases are within the cell cycle. There are two main phases, Interphase and Mitosis.
In today's process, we are going to go through steps so you can really grasp each phase of the cycle.
1. Interphase is where the cell spends most of its life. It has three 3 major phases in it, do you know what they are?? Follow this link and discover what happens during interphase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXLSTd_dlKg
Make sure you are engaged with the video and taking good notes, it'll help you when we do our worksheets!
Once you are finished, come bring me your notes so I can check them before moving on to step 2.
2. Now let's dive into mitosis. How many phases are there? Do you know what makes each phase unique? Watch this second video and find out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKGcfbyFXsw
Once you finish the second video come bring me your notes on it so I can check them before moving on to the next step.
Now that you have gathered the information needed to understand the cell cycle, you need to create your own model.
A. Get a piece of paper and colored pencils.
B. Draw out a cell and mark each phase of the cell cycle. (Including both interphase and mitosis)
C. Go through the stages of mitosis. (each phase should have its own drawing of a cell representing what's happening)
D. Make sure and label each phase and what's happening in each phase of the cell.
Your final product should look along these lines (your description of what's going on during each phase should be more explicit)! When you're done, come check it with me so you can study it for an upcoming quiz!
