Chicken Pox

Introduction

Chickenpox (varicella) is a highly contagious viral disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). The main symptom is a blistering skin rash. Outbreaks are more common in winter and early spring. Children and adults can be immunised against chickenpox.

Task

We are going to play a game of "catch the chicken," on the netball court, where everyone is a chicken and one student is nominated to be the "pox." The "pox" needs to run around and catch as many "chickens" as they can by tapping the "chicken" on the shoulder. Once a "chicken" is caught they then have the chicken pox and have to help the original "pox" to catch all the other "chickens." Once everyone has been caught they all have the chicken pox and have to go to the doctor (the teacher) so they can get better and return to class. This game is only played once because you can only get chicken pox the one time.
