Introduction
Hello! In today's social studies classroom at Olive Chapel Elementary we will be exploring inside social studies and looking at the Christmas holiday; what it is like in our homes and homes across the world! Let's get started kids!
Task
Task At Hand:
We are going to be reading in our National Geographic Magazines about how Christmas is celebrated throughout the world: What traditions do other people have? Do they celebrate in similar and different ways? What is it like within your home; do you celebrate it? If not, what is Christmas time like?
We will begin this activity by filling in a K-W-L chart on what we know, what we want to know, and after- what we learned.
After filling out the K and W parts of the chart we are going to read the National Geographic Article by popcorn reading and then I will let you choose your own location to create a poster on how Christmas is celebrated within that area and then relate it to how you celebrate Christmas.
After this we will be sharing out posters outloud infront of the class!
