Classification of hydrocarbons

Introduction

The term HYDROCARBONS means organic compounds which contain only carbon and hydrogen. By using this definition, four classes of hydrocarbons are included: alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and aromatic.

Task

The Task

To prepare for the task, you will need to review some topics in classification of hydrocarbons. Next, you will demonstrate your understanding of these topics by completing a worksheet.You will then do independent online research to learn about hydrocarbons. Lastly, you will do the tasks. These tasks will require a computer, access to the web, paper and pencil.

Process

Be sure to read through all of the directions in each section before you click and follow the links and instructions.

Evaluation

1. read about classification of hydrocarbons;

2. Do the task;

3. Check your answers.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have learned about classification of hydrocarbons.
