Welcome to the Writing Final Exam Study Guide!
Task
This lesson will help you prepare for the final exam next week. Follow all the directions and make sure you ask if you forget or don't understand how to do something. You can ask me all week, but you may not ask during the exam.
Process
Assignment 1
Part I:
- Read through all the topics at the link below.
- Find one that interests you.
- Choose your topic by clicking on ---> http://www.middleschooldebate.com/topics/topicresearch.htm
Part II:
- After you choose your topic, click on it.
- Next, click on the links under the topic.
- There should be at least one link for the pros of the debate and one link for the cons. There might also be a link with both the pros and the cons in it. If for some reason there are not both pros and cons for your topic, you can either find them on Google or choose another topic.
Part III:
- Open up your Powerpoint
- Save it as "Final Exam Review: Your Full Name"
- Begin with Slide 1 and...
- FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY
Part IV: Create your powerpoint
REMEMBER: IF YOU CANNOT FIND THE INFORMATION YOU NEED FOR EACH SLIDE ON YOUR TOPIC, CHOOSE ANOTHER TOPIC WITH MORE INFORMATION

- Title: Your Debate Topic (3 points)
- Full Name (1 point)
- Date (1 point)
- Final Exam Review (1 point)
- Related picture (1 point)
Slide 2:
- Title: Background (3 points)
- What is the debate about? (3 points)
- What is the pro argument? (3 points)
- What is the con argument? (3 points)
- Related picture (1 point)
Slide 3:
- Title: Pros (3 points)
- Pro #1 (3 points)
- Pro #2 (3 points)
- Your opinion on the pro argument and why you have that opinion (3 points)
- Related picture (1 point)
Slide 4:
- Title: Cons (3 points)
- Con #1 (3 points)
- Con #2 (3 points)
- Your opinion on the con argument and why you have that opinion (3 points)
- Related picture (1 point)
Slide 5:
- Title: My Position on the Debate (3 points)
- What is your position? (3 points)
- Reason #1 (3 points)
- Reason #2 (3 points)
- Related picture (1 point)
Slide 6:
- Title: References (3 points)
- Reference #1 (Website and title of article/website) (3 points)
- Reference #2 (Website and title of article/website) (3 points)
- If there is one, Reference #3 (Website and title of article/website) (3 points)
Part V: Design
- Each slide should have at least one transition (1 point per slide)
- Each slide should have at least one animation (1 point per slide)
- Each slide should have a design...the design may be the same or different for all slides (1 point per slide)
Part VI: Editing
- All titles should be centered
- All titles should be capitalized (only words more than 3 letters)
- All words on all slides should be spelled right. If there is a line under it, do spell check or ask me!
- All answers must be in complete sentences
- Re-read every slide. Your word and grammar usage must be correct
Assignment 2 (LifeSkills Students Only)
Go to Quizlet:
- Science of Making Friends
- Intro to Cooking
- Food Safety
- Make a Powerpoint with a slide for each category listed above.
- Make sure you have a title slide: "Lifeskills"
- For each slide, list 5 important or interesting facts about the topic.
- The title of each slide will be the title of that section of Quizlet.
- Each slide must have a related picture.
