Introduction
Good morning students! We are going to collaborate everyone's effort and create a class board game of 2-step word problems!
Each pair will create 1 question. We will have 20 questions in the end! Sound exciting? Let's get started!
Process
1. Discuss with your partner and choose your favourite multiplication facts.
For example: A and B likes 7 x 5 = 35
2. Choose 1 character to be featured in your group question.
For example: Ling
3. Recall a situation that multiplication can be used.
For example: Ling has 3 pencil cases. Each pencil case has 5 pens. How many pens does she have in total?
If you need some help, you may click the following links for some ideas!
4. Now, think of a scenario that can happen that will cause an increase or decrease!
For example: Ling gave her friend 4 of her pens.
5. Consolidate that into a question!
For example: Ling has 3 pencil cases. Each pencil case has 5 pens. Ling gave her friend 4 of her pens. How many pens does she have in total?
Evaluation
You need to check that your question makes sense before you can put it into the board game!
Doing the question is a good way to check!
1. Find out the answer for your question.
Write your question on the activity sheet your teacher has provided you with. Get another pair of your friend to try to do your question. You have to help them to check their question as well.
1. Did you get the same answer?
2. Was the question confusing?
3. Is there anything you can improve?
Conclusion
Open the Google Spreadsheet link that your teacher had given you and type in the question now!
