Introduction

Today, you will complete a WebQuest where you will be assigned to report from one of the following areas: 

  • State News (Alabama)
  • National News (United States of America) 
  • Global News 

You will work with your group to list the major topics or news stories on your piece of butcher paper. These will be displayed in the hallway so be sure that someone with good handwriting and good spelling is the one who writes the information down!

Task

After we have counted off, group up by your number (1, 2, or 3). 

Group 1 - State News 

Group 2 - National News

Group 3 - Global News

  • Pair (10 minutes) - In groups of no more than two to three, get together and look through some of the newsites for your group on the next page. Talk within your group (table talk) to read through the headlines, and begin thinking about which news story you think is the most important. 
  • Write (5 minutes) - Decide on one topic that you would like to share with the whole group. Your "headline" will get written down on the butcher paper. Feel free to draw a visual to go with the headline. Creaitivity is encouraged!!!! ;)
