Exporing Religions

Introduction

Hey Students! Religion can be a very important part of a person's life. Religions can be vary from place to place and person to person. Through research, you will be able to provide the class with information on a religion of your choice. 

Task

Step 1: Choose a partner, you will be working in pairs. 

Step 2:  You will be assigned one of these religions. 

Step 3: Create a poster about the religion. 

Step 4: Present the poster to the class. 

Process

Step 1

You will need to choose a partner to research, make a poster, and present with. 

Step 2

You will draw for a religion and that will be the major religion that you will be researching. These major world religions include: 

  • Christianity
  • Judaism
  • Islam
  • Sikhism
  • Taoism
  • Jainism
  • Buddhism
  • Shinto
  • Hinduism
  • Baha'i
  • Confucianism

Step 3

You will need to find the answers to the following questions and include them in your poster presentation. 

  • How many gods does this religion worship? Do they even worship a god?
  • Does this religion have sacred places or spaces?
  • Does this religion have sacred times?
  • Does this religion have laws or practices?
  • Does this religion have major holidays? What are they?
  • Who are key figures in this religion?

Step 4

You and your partner will be making a poster about your religion to present to the class. 

       Please include some of the following things: 

  • Symbol of the religion
  • Photos that are relevant to the religion
  • Interesting facts
  • Eye catching colors and graphics

Step 5: 

For the poster, you can use a few different methods: 

  • Use a poster board and write, tape and glue information and pictures onto it. 
  • Make a poster on microsoft word or another word processor and print it. 
  • use this site : http://www.postermywall.com/index.php/posterbuilder   or another site similar to it. 

Step 6: 

Poster Presentations

  • You and your partner should have close to an equal amount of talking time. 
  • Presentation time goal is 3-4 minutes.
  • Please do not read directly from the poster. It would be best if you pointed to bullets and pictures and explained them in your own words.

Includes four or more pictures, drawings, charts, or clip art relating to the topic of the presentation.

Includes 1-2 photos, drawings, charts, or clip art relating to topic.

Presentation/ Speaking

Speaks for around two minutes and gives minimal information. Answers some questions from webquest.

Creativity

Includes eye catching colors, visuals, and has an overall theme.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have completed the assignment! Now you have learned about several different religions so that you can be an understanding and knowledgable citizen.
