Introduction
Fun and Strange Museums
You have been hired by the State of Ohio to try to encourage more people to visit some of the museums in Ohio. You will have to learn about the museums and make an advertisement that will encourage people to visit them. After you have created your advertisements, students in your class will vote to let you know if you made them want to visit the museums.
Task
What you need to do -
To begin you will look over a list of museums that are found in Ohio. You will pick at least four of them to learn more about. You will go to the museums' websites to find information. You will make at least 4 advertisements, one for each of at least 4 museums, using the powerpoint program. You will then show your advertisements to the class. After they have seen all of your advertisements, they will fill out a form to let you know which museums they would like to visit.
Process
Learn About Ohio Museums
When you hear the word museum do you think of an art museum, a history museum, or a natural history museum? This is what most people think of. But not all museums fall into these categories. Since you live in Ohio, you are going to learn about some of the unusual museums in our state. You will then make some advertisements to try to entice some of your classmates to visit them.
Choose the museums for which you would like to make an advertisement. You must choose at least 4, but you may choose more. As you look at the websites for each museum, you may want to make notes (there is paper in your folder) so you remember which museum displays which kinds of items and which museums you think are interesting. You also may save pictures from these websites that you may want to use in your advertisement. (There is a paper that reminds you how to do this in your folder.) You do not have to use every picture you save.

Make Advertisements using PowerPoint
Open PowerPoint on your computer. You will make one slide for each of the museums you chose. Choose a blank slide for each advertisement so you can add words and pictures wherever you want. There is a paper in your packet explaining how to do this.
You will want to make sure your ad contains important information such as name of the museum, cost, and times it is open. You should include words and/or pictures that will make your viewers want to visit the museum.
If you were not able to find enough photographs on the museum website, you may seach the following sites for photos you want.
When you have finished an advertisement for at least 4 museums, tell your teacher you are ready to share them with the class.
Evaluation
Your teachers and classmates will watch your presentation of your advertisements on the white board in the classroom. They will then fill out a paper letting you know which museums, if any, seemed interesting from your presentation.
Your advertisements should contain the following:
Name of Museum
Cost
Hours of operation
At least one photo of the museum or something in it.
The advertisement should be appealing to look at and easy to read and understand.
Conclusion
Now that you have learned about some of the more unusual museums in Ohio, you, your family, and your classmates may decide to visit one of them someday.
