Introduction
Grammar is more important than you know! It allows us to communicate effectively and avoid embarassing misunderstandings. Improper grammar can significantly alter the meaning of a sentence. Compare these two sentence:
"Let's eat Grandpa!"
and
"Let's eat, Grandpa!"
Commas save lives!
Even Weird Al wrote a song about word crimes!

Task
For this assignment, you will work with a partner to research the rules of grammar using the websites provided. After you have read through several rules, you and your partner will decide on one rule to present. You will then design a lesson to present to the class. This lesson must be accurate and engaging. You may decide to do a Powerpoint presentation, a Prezi presentation, a video or posters. But, most importantly, the lesson has to be clear, correct and must provide the students with some practice with the rule. Finally, you and your partner will create a worksheet that goes with the lesson for the students to complete independently.
Process
- With your partner, review the list of grammar rules listed on the resource www.grammarbook.com. Choose a rule to teach and decide on a form of presentation to use. Make sure to show your teacher the rule you have chosen and be prepared with a second choice in case your rule has been chosen by another partnership.
- Next, using the Presentation Checklist, develop your presentation using Powerpoint, Prezi or another medium. Be sure to get your information from the three listed resources. Other resources must be approved by your teacher.
- Finally, you and your partner will create a practice worksheet for the class. Please use the Worksheet Template found in Resources.
- When you have completed the presentation and the worksheet, you need to practice your presentation. Please look at the presentation rubric to understand how you will be assessed. Remember, both partners need to have equal speaking time.
