Introduction
Your class is a part of an intercultural project, where students from all over the world is coming to visit your school. The project is about building friendships and getting to know each others cultures.
The countries joining are:
- Japan
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
- Denmark
- Germany
- Greece
- India
First of all the students has to watch this film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Bj8OCmxb4, which is an introduction to what culture is. Afterwards let the students discuss the filmclip in groups.
Task
You have to plan a day for all of the students with different activities, that will teach them about each other religions and cultures. The students has to be parred up in teams with students from other contries. There must be exercises from all joining ethnicities.
Process
Step 1: Research
In order to get to know each others countries, the students needs some basic knowledge about all of the countries. Make an activity with exercises from all of the countries. Below you will find a link to a wikipedia page about all of the countries participating.

Step 3: Information
The students will need knowledge about the countries, in order to answer the questions. They can use books, magazines, internet etc.
Step 4: The product
In the end the groups will be assigned a country they have to make an oral presentation for the rest of the groups about. There must be a visual product as posters, powerpoints etc. The groups will have 10 minutes to talk about their country.
Evaluation
After te presentation, the students ill coment on each others presentations with focus on: content, collaboration and preparedness.
Conclusion
This exercise was planned to teach the students about the different cultures and how to communicate. It shows that although countries from the outside lookalike, they can be very different. You get to learn how different cultures communicate, get to use your spoken language and practices public speaking. The movie will start out by peaking the students interest and motivate them. The activities are the basic knowledge the students later wil use, therefore they get time to discuss the clip in groups, to make sure they use it.
