Pancake Party

Introduction

Pancake Party

During this Webquest you will work in a group and plan a pancake breakfast for the whole fourth grade class. You will be given a pancake recipe and have to change it in order for everyone to get three pancakes each. You will also be given a budget in order to buy all of the supplies we will need for our party.

Task

Task

During this Webquest you will practice your multiplication and review muliplying decimals. You will then have to change a pancake recipe in order to make enough pancakes so each person in our third grade classroom can have three pancakes each. After you figure out how many pancakes we need to make and how much of each ingredient you will need you will have to buy the ingredients and supplies, such as plates, napkins, silverware, etc.

You will be put into groups of four, and have to work together to modify the pancake recipe and create a shopping list for the supplies all while staying in your budget.

Process

Step One

Practice your mulitiplication skills by playing the following game:

Then, watch the following video on how to multiply decimal numbers together.

Step 2

As a group modify the recipe in the following worksheet 27 students and me! (28 people total). Remember that you need to make enough for each person to have three pancakes!

Then as a group decide how much of each ingredient and party supplies you need in order to throw this pancake party and feed everyone. Your budget to do so is $45.00. If your budget permits don't forget about the orange juice and syrup!
