PBB: Pinoy Back-To-Back (Time Machine)

Introduction

           

 

            Do you know what the status of human’s life was before? Have you ever wondered what did your ancestors experience?

            During ancient times, the students should work hard in order for them to go to school. They wake up early then they will go to their farm to help their parents to plow the field. They will not stop until it is done, after their work they will prepare for school. The students before do not have their school uniform that’s why they are just wearing casual dress. Some students went to school by means of walking, barefoot and put their slippers at their bag to know how important for them to have slippers. The other students went to school by means of travelling through mountains and rivers because the transformation during that time is not that imposed. Before, the students used variety of books in order to have their assignments and projects. It is hard for them to study because of the lack of reading materials.

            Life today can be defined as a spoonful feeding. We wake up with alarm clock, eat with spoon and fork, go to school by means of school bus, together with our pack lunch and lucky we have extra money for our wants. In school we are provided with educational rooms which are properly ventilated and more capable in gaining knowledge. Students go to school with proper uniform, black and shiny shoes. We are not bookish anymore, we tend to gain knowledge more on our advance technology and use those technologies in our communication by means of Facebook, telephone and e-mail.

            PBB: Pinoy Back-To-Back (Time Machine), is a quest about showing the way of living of the students before and today. The purpose of this quest is for the students to recognize the difference between life before and the life today.

Task

Task 1: The selected students will come to school portraying the life in the old days.

Task 2: The students will be divided into two groups. The first group will portray the life before the 20th century and the second group will present/show the modern life.

Task 3: The first group who will portray the life before 20th century will show the traditional way of teaching teaching and second group in contrast will do the modern way of teaching.

Process

Task 1

            The selected students will come to school portraying the life in the old days. Old slippers such as “bakya” or just bear-footed and old clothes must be wearing. They will also use bags that are made up of either bayong or plastic. Rice as well as dried fish and boiled egg are their lunch. They will bring this lunch covered with the leaf of banana.

Task 2

            The students will be divided into two groups. The first group will portray the life before the 20th century and the second group will present/show the modern life. They will be isolated in a room. “Big Brother” will give the task where in the students who will portray the life before the 20th century will conduct a research about a given topic by using different books.

            The other group that will portray the modern life will conduct a research about the same given topic by using different technologies today. The students before 20th century will write their answers in a paper using ink and the students in modern life will write their answers in a paper using ballpen or pencil and should pass the hard copy before 2:00 in the afternoon.

Task 3

             The first group who will portray the life before 20th century will show the traditional teaching within 15 minutes. A teacher and the rest of the group together with the other member of the class will be the students. The second group in contrast will do the modern way of teaching within 15 minutes. After that both groups will write a reflection about their task.
