Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

Introduction

For this project, you and your partner are biologists who are studying how different organisms make energy. One of you wants to study the process of photosynthesis while the other wants to study cellular respiration. You decide to do both and compare the two. Good luck on your research!

Task

You and your partner will be conducting some research on photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Your job is to work together to research both processes and figure out if there is a correlation between the two. How are they similar? How are they different? Do they correlate in any way?

Once you and your partner have found the information you  need, you will create a poster displaying what you learned and present it to the class.

Process

1. Get with a partner.

2. Decide who will research photosynthesis and who will research cellular respiration.

3. Research which process you chose and write down what you find. How does it work? What is used and what does it yeild in return? What organisms use it? When does it occur? These are just guidelines. Feel free to write down any information you think is important. Use the following websites to help you conduct your research:

4. Once you and your partner have completed your research, get together and look at what you wrote down about each process. Take another piece of paper and compare and contrast the two processes. What is similar? What is different? Do the two processes correlate in any way?

5. Take a piece of poster board and make a creative poster that displays what you and your partner found out about photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Be sure to include the similarities and differences that you found and if there is any correlation.

6. You and your partner will present this poster to the class and share what you found. Good luck!
