Introduction

This Webquest will be an exploratory exercize in which you will learn fun facts about famous poets and  their poetry. The questions that you will be expected to answer in this webquest are as follows:

  1. William Shakespeare invented over 1700 brand new English words  in order to make his poems rhyme and have the correct rhythm. Many of these words we use today. Name 5 of them.

  2. Which one of T.S Eliot’s poems begins with the phrase “ Let us go then, you and I, When the evening is spread out against the sky like a patient etherized upon a table”?

  3. Many know Edgar Allen Poe as a poet. However, many aren’t aware that Poe wrote one full length novel as well. What was the name of Edgar Allen Poe’s only novel?

  4. Which poet won four Pulitzer prizes and the United States Congressional Gold Medal?

  5. What famous poem compares death to "lying down with pleasant dreams"?

  6. Which poet wrote a poem about a red wheelbarrow?

  7. What poem by Walt Whitman is an extended metaphor representing  the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln?

Task

Completeing this webquest by  will help you become accustomed to the names of these poets and their work, and introduce you to them. At the end of this project I expect you to be familiar with these poets, as we will be discussing them in more detail later in the class. 

To complete this webquest you will need to make a word document using microsoft word. In this document you will copy and paste the questions I listed previously in the introduction. You will type the answer to each question underneath the question.
