The Roaring 20s

Introduction

Do you think you really know what happened in the roaring twenties? Think again. Sometimes called the "crazy years" in American history, the 1920s was a period of economic growth and social change, where the "flapper" redefined women, jazz music boomed, and inventions like the automobile, telephone, and motion pictures changed the way that people lived. Congrats, your team has been hired to create and publish the latest edition of a popular 1920s magazine, outlining events that happened during this time period and in The Great Gatsby. Good luck old sport!

Task

Each member of your team will have a specific task to complete. Together you will work to create the best magazine that the 1920s has ever seen!

Process

Each team should assign one person for each task.1. Cover Editor: Your responsibility is to create the cover of the magazine. This includes choosing the picture, and choosing which articles are featured. You will work as the main editor of the group and help other group members with editing their pieces for the magazine.2. Gossip Columnist: Your job is to catch up on all the gossip of the roaring twenties. Like any good gossip columnist, you want to focus on all the drama that you can find. Does Gatsby still love Daisy? What's going on with Nick? Is Tom lying? That's for you to find out. (Two 300 word articles)3. Lifestyle: Your task is to focus on the lifestyle of the era. This can include what clothing everyone is wearing, what music is popular, or what film is playing at the local theater. (Two 300 word articles)4. Photo Editor: Your job is to sketch photos for each of the articles as well as the front page. Your pictures must be hand drawn and have a short caption describing each one. You will work with the cover editor in making the front page.HELPFUL SOURCES:http://www.history.com/topics/roaring-twentieshttp://www.digitalhistory…
