Introduction

Welcome students! Today we will be learning about three different types of rocks. Within the webquest, we will be comparing and contrasting these rocks, how they form, and where they are found. Have fun!
Task

You are going on a scavenger hunt! Are you ready? You need to collect 5 different rocks. When you've collected your rocks, we are going to identify what kind of rocks they are in class.
Process
Here's what we are going to do:
1. Take out your rocks. Spread them out on your desk so you can see each one clearly.
2. Write down 2-3 observations about each rock on a seperate sheet of paper.
3. Watch these videos to make you a rockstar:

4. Now let's find out what kind of rocks you collected! Use these charts to help you

Evaluation
| 3 | 2 | 1 | |
| Characteristic Match Up | All characteristics identified with the correct rock form | Most characteristics identified with the correct rock form | Few to none characteristics identified with the correct rock form |
| Amount of Rocks | A total of five rocks were selected and identified | Only 3-4 rocks were identified | 2 or less rocks were identified |
| Rock Observation | 2-3 specific details on rock observations were made on each of the five rocks | 1 specific detail on rock observation was made on each rock | No observations were made on any rocks collected |
Conclusion
Congratulations! You are officially rockstars! Now you can classify rocks into their three groups: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Now that you are an expert on rocks, next time youre on a nature walk pay attention to the rocls around you. Ask yourself: What kind are they? Where did they come from?
