1. While reading the novel Dragonwings you will gather as much information as you can about the San Fransisco earthquake and how it affected the characters in the novel.
2.Record your information from the novel in your graphic organizer.
3.Collect pictures from the actual devastation of the earthquake online that you would like to add to your newspaper article.
4.Complete an additional graphic organizer for the research you conduct on the earthquake outside of the novel.
5.Use the information from both your novel and your research to create a first draft version of your newspaper article. It mus be written in the first person, include a brief description of your life before the earthquake, details on where you were when the earthquake struck, and details on how it has impacted your life. Have you lost friends or family? Is your home still intact or destroyed? What are you able to do for money and food? ETC.
6. Details must be historically accurate. (For example, you cannot say you were at Central Park when it occured.
