The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is an important piece of American Literature. Rich in history the story tells of the secret love affair between a married woman and her pastor and the illegitimate child that is a product of their forbidden union. The woman must openly bear her shame and protect her daughter while the man remains a pillar of the community. He goes unpunished...or does he?
