Introduction
HELP!
You are alone in your habitat and you do not know what to do. You just keep walking and exploring your environment until something starts to show in the distance. You think that it is a mirage BUT, it is real. A pack of your same species reaches where you stand. They ask if you would like to join their group making you no longer a loner. Which is the best option: stay alone or join the pack?
For this assignment you will be learning about your animal's habitat and what your species need to survive. The main idea for this is to gather information in order to provide an accurate argument about how to survive.
Grade 3 Science Standard:
- 3-LS2-1: Students who can demonstrate understanding can construct an argument that some animals form gorups that help members survive.
Task
Your task is to gather information and argument the choice you make for your species. Each group will have their species to accomplish the assignment on. The information that needs to be provide includes: information on your habitat, information about you animal, and an image or drawing of you animal in it's habitat. Your group will conduct a paper, powerpoint, or poster with all the information that is needed within it. The choice is yours to what you end result will be.
Species
Group 1: Crocodiles
Group 2: Ostriches
Group 3: Kangaroos
Group 4: Penguins
Group 5: Koalas
Process
Each group will contain 4 students (teacher can group or can create own). Each will have their own job in the process of creating the assignment. Groups will have class time to do some research but, some aspects will be the responsability of the students themselves.
Student 1: Researcher #1: Information about your animal
Student 2: Researcher #2: Information on your animal's habitat
Student 3: Illustrator/Designer: Create the image of the animal/habitat and designs the outline for poster,paper, or powerpoint.
Student 4: Note Taker/ Writer: Writes notes about
