Solar System Astronomy

By William Keith

This Webquest will teach you about our solar system and facinating facts about the planets, comets, and the sun.

Have you ever looked up at the sky at night in your backyard or when you're camping and seen the stars and noticed the stars that stick out becuase they are the most bright in the sky? Well, these in fact are not stars but a much closer thing to earth reflecting light from the sun, planets. As you move through this webquest you will discover all the planets in our solar system and find that it is full of intersting things besides just Earth.

Task

TASK

Throughout this webquest you will be required to learn and discover a majority of things about the solar system. you must:

  • Learn all the names of the planets
  • Learn the order of the planets from closest to the sun to furthest
  • Learn the environment and color of the planets
  • Learn about how the solar system works
  • Learn what the plaets are made of
  • And learn what the sun is and what it is made of

If you learn these few things by the end of this webquest, you will know all about the solar system.

Evaluation

Evaluation

In the evaluation, you will be asked to answer some questions about what you have learned. If you looked at all the links and read well, this should be relativaly easy.

1. Name off all the planets from closest to furthest away from the sun.

2. What are the colors of all the planets?

3. What causes the planets to revolve around the Sun and moons to revolve around the planets?

4. What is a light year?

5. What is the sun?

6. What are the palets made of?

6. What is the olny dwarf planet in our solar system?

If you could answer all these questions, then you have learned well and know much of it. If you found the questions difficult to answer, you might want to try going back to the Process page and trying to learn the facts again.
