Sports events and competitions in France

Introduction

This is the cultural component of Task 3 for Year 8 French 2015.

Task

Create a poster to publicise a major sport / leisure event that takes place annually in France.Your poster is to attract tourists from Australia to the event.

Choose from:

  • Tour de France à vélo
  • Tour de France à la voile
  • Grand Prix de Monaco
  • 24h du Mans
  • Roland Garos (French Open)
  • Marathon à Paris
  • Les foulées de Gois (Gois Run)
  • Equestria

Or, see your teacher if you would like to research event that is not listed above.

Your poster must include the following information written in ENGLISH:

    1. Title and description of the event - what is it?
    2. when the event is held
    3. where the event takes place - which town(s) /region(s) in France (can be done on a map)
    4. how to get to that location from Paris
    5. how you can register to compete (inscription = registration)
    6. 1-3 labelled pictures
    7. Bibilography on the back

    Submit your poster to your teacher on the same day as your class test.

    Process

    1) Choose the sports event that you would like to publicise:

    i.e.

    • Tour de France a velo
    • Tour de France a la voile
    • Grand Prix de Monaco
    • 24h du Mans
    • Roland Garos (French Open)
    • Marathon a Paris
    • Les foulees de Gis (Gois Run)
    • Equestria

    2) Find out this information using the internet:

    1. Title and description of the event - what is it?
    2. when the event is held
    3. where the event takes place - which town(s) /region(s) in France (can be done on a map)
    4. how to get to that location from Paris
    5. how you can register to compete (inscription = registration)
    6. 1-3 labelled pictures

    3) Present your research as an A3 poster in ENGLISH. Remember your poster should have pictures to make it eye-catching for tourists.

    4) Include a bibliography on the back.

    5) Submit your poster to your teacher on the same day as your class test (a penalty for late submission applies)
