Process
Students will read or listen to the story The Three Little Pigs, any version of this story will work. While reading or listening to this story they will be thinking of the characters they see in the story. They will think about the different places the story is happening. They will also be paying attention to the different events that are happening in the story. This will help them have a better understanding of the story, and allow them to be able to participate in a discussion about the story.
Evaluation
Students will use their words or pictures to fill out a graphic organizer about the story. I will use this to determine their understanding of being able to identify story elements. They will exhibit what they know by identifying the characters, setting and plot of the story. They will be evaluated on how well they depicted these story elements. They will not be graded on spelling or artwork. I will have to see that they did understand who the characters were, the different places the story happened, and the different events that made up the story.
Conclusion
By identifying the characters, setting and plot of the story my students will gain a better understanding of the story. This will help them to be on the lookout for this information in other stories. By knowing how to identify this information they will be able to better understand stories that they read or hear. Since I am allowing them to choose any version of this story they want it will allow me to see if they can show each of these story elements.
