Tracy's Integer Webquest

Introduction

Integers are whole numbers. A number greater 0 is an integer. A number less than 0 is a negative integer. In Intgers there are no fractions allowed. So to sum it up intgers are anothe word for numbers.

Task

Some questions that will help you understand:

1. In what century were negative integers were finally accepted?

2. What cultures were the first to use integers and what contributions did they make?

3. When was the word intgers introuduced?

4. What does the word intgers mean in latin?

5. What is the symbol for intgers, and where does it come from?

6. How do you add two intgers if they have the same sign? Make sure you explain how to determain the sums sign.

7. How do you add integers if they have different signs? Again, explain.

8.Explain how you determine a difference when subtracting two intgers.

9.Explain how you multiply and divide intgers, A chart is acceptible for your answer.

Process

Adding integers is adding just adding numbers.

Here are some tips and websites that might help you understand the conept more.

Evaluation

Answer these questions, try to not look up the answers for these

1. If I have 5 dollars and you want to buy something that is 10 dollars, and i give you my money, How much money do you owe me?

2. -2+4=

3. 5+-5=

4. 3--2=

5. create a word problem using negative intgers or just integers.

Conclusion

Intgers are just whole numbers, and negative intgers are just negative numbers. so when adding intgers you're just adding numbers and when adding negative intgers the besy way I have seen is to use a numberline fpr the smaller equations. This goes for subtracting fractions as well.
