Most of us have little knowledge about exactly how many different kinds of animals share the planet with us and how amazing they are. What is even more amazing is that scientists today keep discovering new animal species every year.
This is where your help is needed. Your job is to find out more about some of the strange and extraordinary animals that inhabit the earth AND also to hopefully discover a brand new animal species.
Task
TASK 1 (10 marks)
Work in pairs.
Find information about the top 10 weirdest animals on the planet.
Do the following:
- List the top 10 weirdest looking animals.
- Write down where each of them can be found.
- State one interesting fact about each of these amazing animals in a full sentence.
- In THREE clear sentences, explain which one of these amazing creatures interested you most. (Use your own words!)
- Present your findings neatly.

Process
Task 1
Go to http://bestpickr.com/weird-looking-animals to do your research.
Watch carefully to complete the task.
Remember you have to do the following:
- List the top 10 weirdest looking animals.
- Write down where each of them can be found.
- State one interesting fact about each of these amazing animals in a full sentence.
- In THREE clear sentences, explain which one of these amazing creatures interested you most.
(Remember to use your own words!)
- Present your findings neatly.
Task 2
Go to http://switchzoo.com/zoo.htm to create your own animal.
When the page opens, look below the picture and click on “Guided Tour”.
When you see the map with the nine buttons in a circle click “next”.
Now click on an animal to choose your animal's body and also its habitat.
Next follow the path to the habitat of your chosen animal.
Now it's time to choose a head for your animal by scrolling down on the left of the picture and clicking on your choice.
Next choose legs for your animal.
Then choose a tail for your animal.
Now click “Add Title” to name your animal.
Then click on “Add Story” and do the following:
- Write about 80-100 word about your animal.
- Include the following:
What it looks like
Where it lives
What it eats
What it is afraid of
What is really interesting and special about it
Finally, click on “print” to see your amazing animal. remember to check for mistakes before handing it in to your teacher!
