This WebQuest will serve as the introduction to The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel was first published in 1925 and it takes place in the spring and summer of 1922 in New York! It gives us an insight into the world where the need for wealth and social status caused moral corruption to be at an all time high. The story is narrated by Nick Carraway, who is an outsider who ends up getting close to the wealthiest people in Long Island including Jay Gatsby. Over the course of the nine chapters, I want to make sure that all readers are forced to ask themselves if wealth and social status is worth what Jay had lost and what is not worth it.
Task
In order for you to understand the book better, I want to begin by having you look into F. Scott Fitzgerald's life who is the author of this book. I feel like reading up on his life will help you better understand his books as most of his short stories and novels are semi-autobiographical.
Read this biography about F. Scott Fitzgerald. After you read about him, give me 5 major events that happened in his life and 3-4 of his most famous pieces. Make it into a PowerPoint that is Roaring 20s themed!
In order to complete this task, you will need to follow the steps provided below and that will cause this assignment to be an easy one for you. Make sure you follow the Roaring Twenties theme and make it visually appealing as well as factually correct with the use of the biography provided.
1. You will be asked to read the F. Scott Fitzgerald biography which is linked in the introduction tab.
2. Find 5 major life events and specify why they are important in your opinion.
3. Find 3-4 of his most famous pieces and provide a quick synopsis of these books.

With completing this PowerPoint, you will be able to tell me about F. Scott Fitzgerald and why he was an important author during this time period. You will also have some background knowledge on what was going on in his life during the time he wrote the book and how that affected the way he wrote The Great Gatsby.
