Which architectural style fits you?
When we talk about architectural style, What does it really mean?
An architectural style is characterized by the features that make a building or other structure notable and historically identifiable.
Most architecture can be classified as a chronology of styles which changes over time reflecting changing fashions, beliefs and religions, or the emergence of new ideas, technology, or materials which make new styles possible.
Task
In this Task you will design a PowerPoint presentation about one of the styles of architecture presented by your teacher, including all relevant information.
You will email the completed PowerPoint to your teacher (Juliana_coria@hotmail.com) by noon (12:00 p.m.) on Friday, October 6th, 2017.
You will present your research to the class on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017.
Then, as a post activity, you will answer some questions with your partner.
Finally, as a class, we will talk about our answers to the questions.
Process
Task N° 1
Design a PowerPoint presentation about one of the styles of architecture presented by your teacher. In your presentation, include the following:
- At least five main characteristics of the architectural style
- Origin of the style chosen
- Year/decade it was made popular
- Pioneering architect
- At least 3 examples of important buildings or houses that were built in this style
- Name
- Architect
- Location
- Photo
- Year built

Post-Activity
Answer the following questions with your partner, then share your answers with the class:
- Which architectural style is the newest? Which is the oldest?
- Which one is the most innovative? The most traditional?
- Which style do you think is the most expensive to build? The most inexpensive?
- If you had to build a home, which style would you choose? Why?
- Tell the class about your partner’s answer to number four.
- Think about the buildings in your community. Which style are they built in? How can you tell?
