Introduction
Pulp is a lignocellulosic fibrous material prepared by chemically or mechanically separating cellulose fibres from wood, fiber, crops or waste paper. Wood pulp comes from softwood trees such as spruce, pine, fir, larch and hemlock, and hardwoods such as eucalyptus, aspen and birch.
Task
You have to watch video and then answer to the questions if they are true or false. Then check answers.
Jānoskatās dotais video un jāatbild uz jautājumiem, vai tie ir patiesi vai nepatiesi. Pēc tam jāpaskatās atbildēs vai atbildējāt pareizi.
Process
Evaluation
1. The timber used for paper production comes from trees like maple, alder, ash and hazel.
2. The largest source of wood chips for papermaking is the recycled off-cuts from industrial saw mills.
3. The wood chips are fed into a digester where they are cooked in an sodium.
4. They wash the fibres to remove the acid sollution and after that the pulp is soft and fibrous.
5. Bleaching is not chlorine free and they don't use oxygen and peroxide.
6. The pulp enters the paper mill, and is mixed with water.
7. Fibrillated fibres bind more tightly with adjacent fibres, creating stronger paper.
8. Wood fibres alone wouldn't produce rough textured and unevenly dense paper.
9. Metal and plastic may also be blended into the pulp.
10. About 100 litres of fresh water are needed to make 10 kilogram of paper.
