Indiana Regions

Introduction

We have been learning about the different regions in the state of Indiana. The three main regions are

• Northern & Moraine
• Central Till Plaines
• Southern Hills & Lowlands

Task

Since President Obama is coming to Indiana and you are on the committee to set up his visit you need to decide which region you want him to see. Here are the possible regions northern, central, or southern. The president likes to travel with his family and enjoys doing things for liesure, fun, things that are recreational/athletic, and things that are educational /historical . Once you have decided which region you want the president to visit to make an itinerary for him. This itinerary should include the places he is going to go ,what time he will be doing them, and where he is doing them. Along with the itinerary you need to write a one page paper on what makes this region so special that President Obama should visit it.

Process

1. What does President Obama  like to do on vacation? He enjoys playing golf and basketball, he likes to visit historical sites with his family, and he likes to see special points of interests, he enjoys eating local foods that represent the area.

2. Decide in your group which region you are going to research and write your itinerary on, (look at the map link to decide which region has what cities).

3. Decide which aspect of your region each one of you is going to take on. Are you going to research food & lodging, historic activities, and leisure activities? Each team member should chose one of the 3 areas. * you need to have a minimum of 6 activites planned but may have more.

4. Now that you have decided which part you are going to play look under the category and research it.

5. After you have done a good amount of research go back to your group and start discussing what kind of things you think are relevant to the trip, make sure you give reasons why you think that the president should go there.

6. Now that you have discussed which places you think he should go, start making your itinerary. Make sure to include the times he is going to do everything, how long he is going to do everything, how far each of the places are from one another. Make sure you have enough time for each place and nothing is overlapping.

7. Now that you have found out all about all the possible regions, you will give your presentation to the class. The presentation should include the itinerary and your one page paper on why the President should visit your region will be turned into the teacher.

8. After hearing your papers and looking at each others itineraries as a class you will decide which region you think the president should visit by puting it to a class vote.

Evaluation

You will be graded on two seperate parts. The first part is the itinary you are to write as a group. The last part is the paper you will write individually. Look at the rubric link to determine how you are graded on your paper.

Conclusion

Congratulations!! You have finished your webquest. The president loved the trip you designed for him. In fact he loved it so much that he is going to try to visit Indiana again and it all because of you. You deserve a pat on the back.
