Introduction

Imagine that you live in a far away land, and in a long ago time!

How many possible countries can you and your partner come up with? 

Lets make a list!

Where would you like to live?

Think about movies you like, can you think of any that happen in the past?

     - What is different about these movies in the past?

Task

-You will be creating a comic at the end of the story with your partner. 

- You will know what to write down for your comic because the answer/ quesiton will be indicated with a   

-You will use the infomation you write down to create your comic 

- What your comic looks like is up you! : )

Process

Remember that list of stories? We will focus on one: 

The place: South Korea  

The time: 1400's   

This is the time and place our story, Simcheong the Blind man's daughter, takes place!

3.) We will create our comic 

        This comic will include: 

 -The characters in the story   

-A brief introduction page that includes the where the story is set, and when it is set.    

-The reason behind the story, the “why”, and the what is happening will be  a natural part of the retelling of the comic.

  -The description of how characters respond to major events will be part of the retelling.

  - The last page will be used to explain the central message of the story.

Conclusion

After reading the story lets think about these questions before we start on the comic:

-What did you like about the story?

 -What was different about this story compared to other fairy tales you have heard?

- What was the same?

Finally: use what you wrote down to create the comic.

                        Recount stories, including fables, and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral.

                        Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges.

Introduction:  Imagine that you are living in a far away time, and a far away country called South Korea. South Korea is a country in Asia You are living in a time before T.V., before computers, and before the internet. Brief prezi about South Korea, and South Korea in the past. Be sure to include videos to engage! The story we are going to read from South Korea called “ Simchong the Blind Man’s Daughter, is from a time like this.  

Task:  Students will work in pairs and able to explain who the characters are, what the story is about, where the story takes place, when it is set, and what the central message is. Students will also be able to explain how characters react to major events and challenges.  They will do this by retelling the story through a comic that they will create with a partner

Process:

1.)    Read through the story with a prezi in the  webquest stopping to ask questions throughout. Questions will include a review of characters, asking for character motivation, asking about character responses to major life events. At the end discuss the moral/ central idea of the story.

2.)    Students will discuss these points and write them down with a partner. Students will know what to write down because the question/ answer will be indicated by a pencil next to it.

3.)   Students will use their written discussion points to create a comic with a partner. The comic will include:

  1. a.     The characters in the story
  2. b.     A brief introduction page that includes the where the story is set, and when it is set.
  3. c.     The reason behind the story, the “why”, and the what is happening will be  a natural part of the retelling of the comic.

4.)   The description of how characters respond to major events will be part of the retelling.

5.)   The last page will be used to explain the central message of the story.
